Project Funding
The State of Alaska oil revenue money that MAC receives from the state belongs to the community. The State has asserted that we can address our needs with the money more efficiently than state bureaucrats, and that MAC is the only appropriate local body to administer these funds. We recognize the importance of fairly and efficiently disbursing this money. Requests that positively affect the most community members and have long-lasting benefit are encouraged. Download the 2024 MAC Small Grant Guidelines here or the Essential Community Infrastructure (ECI) guidelines and application here (clicking will initiate a PDF download).

Current MAC members vote annually (usually at the August meeting) for the organization's Directors. Contact the McCarthy Area Council here for more information.

McCarthy Area Council is funded through State of Alaska community revenue sharing funds dispersed to nearly every recognized community in the state. Monies applied toward local projects are typically met by cash matches using local resident and business dollars. As Alaska's revenue sharing funds decline, the onus to raise operating funds may shift directly onto MAC and its membership. The Board of Directors has been saving significant portions of current annual revenue for longevity's sake. Operational costs range from insurance, to printer toner and postage, to toilet paper and janitorial services for the public toilets, to new bridge cart tires as needed, and much more, over and beyond funding applied to specific projects. You can make a tax deductible donation to MAC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization by mailing a check to McCarthy Area Council, MAC Treasurer, P.O. Box MXY 31, Glennallen, AK 99588 or donating online here. You can also contribute cash in a locked cash box located in the public toilet near the McCarthy-Kennicott Historic Museum. Thank you.
